One could never take over empathy, gut instinct and compassion. One could not take over intricate critical skills such as iv sticks, ngt inesertions, foley insertion. What makes nurses wonderful are the same things that can't be taken over by technology.

I doubt if technology will ever take over nursing but if used in right way I think it could enhance the nurse's job.  I find it much easier to do computer charting, pulling up files, xrays, CT's up on screen.  However, I just don't see a robot in the near future teaching a new mother how to nurse or Heaven forbid coach her through labor.  I think our jobs as nurses are fairly secure as far as technology is concerned.

Technology might make a nurses life easier, but it will never replace nurses!

I agree, Technology has and will continue to make certain parts of nursing easier, but you will never be able to do actual patient care with anything other than a person.
