Hi guys!  My name is Stephanie and I am currently in the Airforce.  I have a BA already and want to go back to school to get a BSN and possibly do a direct entry program.  I am currently stationed in Baltimore and have seen a few schools in the area offering these programs.  Any suggestions or advice??  It's much needed.

I do not know a thing about the schools in your area. Start with gathering info on the schools. The Airfors\ce should be able to give you some guideance. What is your BA degree in?

Hey Stephanie,

I also live in Baltimore. I am currently in an accelerated BA program and then I plan to go to nursing school here. I have already done a lot of research about nursing schools in the area and I have 2 ideas for you.

1. Univ. of MD has a direct entry MSN/CNL (clinical nurse leader) program for people who already have a Bachelor's degree in any other field. They have both a 16 month and a 23 month option. Here is their link:

2. Johns Hopkins has a second degree BSN program that takes 13.5 months to complete. You can then go on to get a MSN in the specialty of your choice. When you apply to the BSN program, you apply at the same time to the master's specialty you wish to pursue. That way you know you have a gauranteed spot in the master's program. In other words, you are doing a dual admissions process. Here is their link:

As for me, I plan to do the MSN/CNL program at Univ. of MD. I plan to do this because I eventually want to become a CRNA (certified registered nurse anesthetist) and only Univ. of MD offers this program, not Hopkins.

BTW, Univ. of MD's nursing school had been ranked 7th best in the country by US News and World Report.

Hoped this info. helped. Take care!
