Speciality for adrenaline!?

Posted about 1 month ago I am just starting nursing school and was wondering what speciality is best for a guy? ER, Surgical, Critical Care, Flight, etc....any help or input from your knowledge would be great. I don't want this to turn into a competition between posts...just would like some personal insight.....thanks! |

| Posted about 1 month ago I guess that the answer to this question would vary from person to person. I would assume that the specialty that one chooses would depend on the interests of the person. And I find that this is one of the greatest things about nursing. There are many options to choose from. Bottom line, there is no one "correct" specialty for a male nurse (or any nurse for that matter). It is greatly a matter of opinion and personal interests. It sounds though that you are one who enjoys an adrenaline rush. So yeah, the ER and OR would be a great place for that. You will have the opportunity to see and explore many different specialties while doing your clinicals in nursing school. You may find your niche in a specialty that is very fast-paced or you may be surprised to find that something else interests you. Just remember to keep your eyes and ears wide open to the possibilities that are out there. |

| Posted about 1 month ago Emergency Room for the win. There are days when we are hard pressed to find a girl to assist with out Foleys/pelvics. It just seems to be a guy's sort of environment because it is fast paced work and room to advance into flight, etc. |

| Posted 21 days ago If you have adrenaline it is ED. But of course you will need to keep a cool head. I would suggest you shadow someone. But of course you need med-surg work first., |
