Posted about 1 month ago I had male doctors and female nurses during my deliveries, but a male nurse in the NICU was by far my favorite! Don't let anything deter you from the specialty you want. If your heart is in the job, your patients will know it and they will be greatful to have you by their side. HMJensen

Posted about 1 month ago I definitely have heard of male OB/GYNs. OB/GYN is theoretically considered a surgical specialty for MDs. As far as male L&D nurses go, I would assume that it's a female-dominated specialty. However, I strongly agree with hmjensen. Follow your heart, and as long as you put all you've got into your job, then I am sure you will succeed. Best of luck with your decision!

Posted about 1 month ago I actually had a male nurse in the recovery area after I had my second child. He wasn't in the delivery room but the recovery area was part of the L&D unit.
