| Posted about 1 month ago Yanno, what if a scenario like this actually happened? Could be scary if Nancy Pelosi ended as President by default. If she was President, it might be late spring before the true president is actually called president because of all that ACORN stuff with votor fraud..........could take monthes to know who our new president is! | Posted about 1 month ago While Bush's 2nd term majorly disappointed me, I DO give him credit for our country being safe with establishment of Homeland Security. It's been > 7 yrs since we have been attacked. I will sleep better at night if McCain is elected because he is the best qualified to be Commander in Chief, given his 22 year Naval career and over 5-1/2 yrs as a POW in Vietnam. I encourage reading Faith of My Fathers by John McCain, which he wrote in 1999 about his grandfather's, father's, and his own naval career. Given what he went through as a POW, he came to appreciate and love America more than ever after being a POW and not knowing if he would ever return home. When the Vietnam captors learned his father was an admiral in the navy, they tried to get McCain to take an early release which he refused due to the naval code of "first captured, first to be released" and there were many others who had been held longer than he had. I hope that with time, history will give Pres. Bush some credit for good things accomplished. And it is still my opinion that the war in Iraq was worth it if only to free the Iraqi people from Saddam Hussein. At least they have a chance now at living without his regime of terror. |

| Posted about 1 month ago I do wish he'd give that speech. I know I'll take a lot of flak for this but George Bush will eventually go down in history not only as one of the most honest presidents but even among the best. Protecting this nation since 911 would almost put him in the later group alone; particularly in light of what seems to be the media's and Democrat's efforts to not only encourage our enemies but almost aid them. Of course it was no different during the Vietnam war which they arguably caused us to lose. |

| Posted about 1 month ago If a scenario like this really did happen, we'd be SOL with Nancy Pelosi in the drivers seat. I think the country is much happier feeling all the misery is his and Cheney's fault. We only have one heart, take care of it! Angie |

You know, I hear that a lot. And to be honest, it grates on me as well, but - it's called metathesis. We do it with "February". And how do you say "foliage"? Or "iron"? It's a variant pronunciation, not necessarily an incorrect pronunciation. Eisenhower used it, Carter used it, as do several weapons specialists - but only when talking about nuclear weapons - "nukes". Dialect doesn't equal dumb. tdage, Early Sunday morning, looking for a little lightheartedness before this turned into yet another political argument. Don't take things so seriuosly. Sounds like you could use a laugh! Relax. Smell the roses. Everyone knows only history will tell, and that this is one of the most imortant elections of our lifetime. I'm afraid, really afraid. Let's all lighten up a little. Arguing is only going to turn this ugly again. I've had enough of that. |

It was a linguistics comment, not a politics comment. Neither was it an argument.
And this is why I don't post so much anymore. Done. Ted "The smallest minority on earth is the individual. Those who deny individual rights cannot claim to be defenders of minorities." - Ayn Rand |

| Posted about 1 month ago I'm glad you posted that tdage. I remember a cousin of mine and myself had problems stuttering. growing up. Friends and family made fun of us. It doesn't make us stupid. My cousin is a physics professor at the University of Texas in Austin. I made it through nursing school and we all know how challenging that was. Good post...........and speaking 'funny'; sometimes isn't funny at all to a little kid. |
